Chrysalis is a love story, set in the world of high fashion, between Chris Wentworth and Tom Greenwood. Like all relationships, there are challenges. Chris suffers from gender dysphoria, which he is working to resolve, There are those who want to destroy them. But Chris and Tom find people who accept and who prosper in their aura. The three novels have Chris and Tom do the tango of love with a large cast of characters who swirl around them.

In Part I of Chrysalis, Chris Wentworth moves from living on the streets of Chicago to having a boyfriend, Tom Greenwood, and a job as a model in one whirlwind week. His head still spinning, he, under the mentorship of Tom, moves to New York to learn more about the fashion industry.

In Part II, Chris's emotional bubble of Chicago bursts. Tom has a boyfriend, Toby, who is possessive and dangerous; he has no place to live; he has no one to rely on. Three years of homelessness, give Chris the strength to make his own way. He discovers that he does not need Tom to grow and flourish. Part II develops Chris into a stronger person with an ever-growing diverse band of friends: Jazzabel, the drag artist, Millie, an octogenarian, Chet, a police officer, Cynthia, his New York boss, and Boyd, a coworker who needs to be saved from himself.

But Tom is not out of the picture, their relationship changes and grows. Their love is stronger than Toby's threats., than Chris's gender dysphoria. Their relationship moves from the giddy enchantment of their first meeting to more solid love based upon mutual respect.

In Part III, the story moves to Los Angeles, where Tom and Chris are reassigned by their company. Their relationship has matured and Tom proposes. Wedding bells do not ring until Tom's grandfather, Lord Greenwood, approves. Then there is the strained relationship between Chris and his parents, whom he has not seen since they threw him out of the house three years before.

In Part III, all the stars align and Chris has his surgery. He is male.
