Asylum: Poetry by Danielle Matthews

This collection features long and short-form poetry about love, loss, grief, and mental health. Ultimately a self-help book for the author, each poem represents part of the journey from illness to health and how the written word proved to be a balm in dark days.

Some poems have been featured in journals, pamphlets, and anthologies, and some are published here for the first time.

Each piece asks the reader to peer into the past, to feel the force and presence of each emotion, and to seek asylum in the comfort that can come after navigating through hard times.
