Second Coming: Return of the Herd

In his second book, SECOND COMING/Return of the Herd, poet Lobibah Oji Baraka (also known as Gilbert H. Richards) continues his circuitous journey through socio-political and nostalgic spheres with artistic intellect and resonant energy. His poetry has been described as layered, textured, provocative, sensual, reflective, and commemorative. Baraka's persona speaks with an attitude that is genuine and a vibe that is jive. Sometimes fuming, other times funky-but always intriguing and relatable.

This book is divided into five sections: Self, Arts, Death, Love, and Society. Baraka writes with a flair for the narrative. His poems possess verbal sophistication that has been described as "sonic deliciousness," while his figurative language is "visually compelling." Second Coming is a culmination of authentic free verse as well as compassionate, reflective prose poetry.
