Shawnee is a witch bartender, serving her clients spelled drinks that they need. She does rather well and stays low on the radar of the Powers That Be, because being invisible now makes up for how not invisible she used to be. When her ex-boyfriend Dmitri comes around needing her help, things turn sour because it is not simple request. He's a Detective in the Paranormal Response, Investigation and Criminal Control Department, and he needs her to go undercover to catch a Curser who is targeting the rich social circles. As a Wixen himself, his skills are less in spell casting and more in illusions, so they make a good team; they just have to survive each other. She dumped him because there was no future for them together, and he didn't fight to keep her because he was pursuing a promotion and her history as a rogue spell seller looked bad for him. Now it's her very past as a hexer that he needs, if they can work together; all those little habits they used to find cute have turned to vexations.
