Lethal Symmetries

In 1861, Dr William Tomberton receives an urgent call from his old friend Police Inspector Evans. Lord Carmichael is dead - murdered in a way no one can understand. They examine the man's corpse - there are no signs of an assault, but the body has been hideously changed.

Tomberton and Evans go to the Carmichael mansion, which remains as silent as a grave. No one has seen Lady Carmichael or the house staff. Two policemen who ventured inside never returned. There is no choice but to assemble a small team and investigate the building...

In Carmichael's home, Tomberton, Evans and their two companions find more victims transformed to death by a malignant force. What kind of entity can have the power to restructure every part of a person, from their clothing and outside appearance... to all their internal organs? An awful brooding atmosphere fills the mansion - and the four investigators continue in dread of the abhorrent, lurking slayer. Also, the sight of what has happened to the mirrors almost shatters their courage.

What is the entity inside the Carmichael mansion? How was it unleashed upon the household? How do the murders in 1861 relate to events in 1502... and to the genius Leonardo da Vinci?

As the investigation turns into a seemingly hopeless battle for survival, Tomberton and Evans find normal weapons are useless against their enemy. Is there any way to stop the lethal symmetries?
