Amaia Sagastizabal still goes by the name Sophie Cassou at work. She's a professor of political science, and lobbies for increased autonomy for her people, the Basques. In The Organisation, she's known simply as Amaia. The version of the group that she helps to run is more peaceful than the one she knew growing up, or so she thinks. But she's distracted. Eighteen months ago, she held a funeral for her fianc?. The sister-in-law who was her closest confidante has disappeared. And her comrades aren't as trustworthy as she pretends.

When the police walk into a lecture she's giving in Paris, with a warrant for her arrest, life as she knows it ends. She's forced to question everything, including whether peace was ever what the rest of The Organisation wanted to achieve.

Accused of crimes she didn't commit and abandoned by the commander she's given her life to serve, Amaia finds an unlikely ally in Lauran Etcheverria. But his loyalty comes with a price.
