Though life has been difficult for her after the death of her husband, Emma has managed well enough for herself and her dear little boy, Aaron. However, her thoughts still turn to sadness too often. And so, when her dear friend offers her a position as caretaker to an elderly Mr. Hochstetler, Emma is happy for the opportunity-both for the money and the distraction.

However, Emma is unprepared for the added distraction of Lucas Hochstetler, Mr. Hochstetler's grandson. Lucas is about Emma's age, and he seems clearly taken with her.
