During the early 90s, Jose "Raze" Muyet was the leader of a drug gang called "The Nasty Boys", which operated primarily in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx, New York. Between 1991 and 1995, according to the Government, the Nasty Boys obtained tens of millions of dollars in heroin, and during its existence, the gang engaged in at least three major "wars" with rival gangs, perpetrated dozens of acts of violence against other drug dealers and fellow gang members, that left at least fifteen people dead. Liz Doyle in her book reveals how the Government arrested and convicted Raze and members of the Nasty Boys with no physical evidence against them with the exception of fabricated testimony from "Rats" and "snitches." Included is the statement made by the Bronx born rapper Joseph Cartagena, aka, "Fat Joe" of a murder Raze was convicted of.
