After years of researching to find the identity of the men who fought in the Civil War from my hometown in Central New York State, these poems were born. One hundred sixty-two years after the start of the war, would these men have a different attitude toward the war? How would the women tell their stories, those that did not create but only endured?
Today, shouts of Civil War are heard in our country. Perhaps, these people need a reminder of what hate can do to a person or a country. I hope that one poem, one sentence, one word, one thought expressed in my poems can make a positive change in someone's attitude. That the silent voices can soften a heart, can make one realize the consequences of an action. Women need to curtail the aggressive nature of the male; men need to appreciate the sensitivity of the feminine.
