The Gravel Road: When God Sends You Down a Road You Never Thought You'd Travel

Of course, we would all love the smooth road covered in sunshine and surrounded by amazing scenery. But what do you do when God sends you down a road you never thought you would travel? A long, hard road with dark skies, storms and ugly scenery? A rocky, gravel road that is painful to travel. A road that kicks up rocks into your shoes and you can't stop to remove them. A long road with every step being a reminder of the pain, the pain of even the smallest rock left in your shoe.

You have a choice:

• You can refuse to go down that road and remain stuck right where you are.
• You can travel the road and scream in misery the whole time making everyone else around you miserable too.
• Or you can ask God to hold your hand and travel it with you to point out the blessings along the way. The blessings you might have missed if you were too focused on the pain of the road.

In 2020, Dr. Jill started her journey down that gravel road, the road she never thought she'd travel. What she discovered along the way was breathtaking. Although the skies were dark at times and there certainly was pain, she discovered that all other roads in her life lead her and prepared her for that hard gravel road. She also discovered that the rainbow and pot of gold that God had placed at the end of that road made it all worth it, so much so that she says she would do it all over again 100 times just for that prize at the end.
