When her mother passed during her birth, her father asked her older brothers what they should name her....and they decided on Saber. There were worse weapons to be named after, but it became a hassle every time she gave her name because people thought she was joking.

Saber didn't choose her life as a bandit, she always wondered if there was more to life than fighting because that was all she knew.
