What started as Sheriff Jake Dwyer needing my assistance to identify two prickly cute animals, quickly spiraled into me becoming his self-appointed deputy.
Only don't tell him, because he gets mad at that sort of thing.

As if I didn't have enough to juggle between my animal daycare and sanctuary businesses.
Not to mention my dusty love life-it's drier than a dust bowl in the midst of a summer draught.

I only hope I can solve the murder in time for the fundraiser, because then Jake will owe me big time, and having the sheriff present always increases the donations.
If the fundraiser fails, I'll have to shut down the animal sanctuary, leaving me with more than one dead body on my hands.
