We Love Duke

Introduction: This book is based upon the life of a dog named Duke, a border collie who lives in Encinitas, California. He was a difficult dog to adopt, having been abused as a pup, and he has never trusted strangers, but slowly he has morphed into a more trusting and loving companion. His life story has a remarkably happy ending. Duke has learned hundreds of words and phrases, and in two languages. The story is presented from the point of view of Duke himself. Duke thinks humans can learn a lot from dogs, and that dogs can do more than we know and understand much of what we say, or how we say it, as well as via our body language. Duke summarizes his advice to children at the end.
