We are imprisoned by lots of expectations, both those we set for ourselves and others, as well as those set for us. They are embedded in us, and we react and act daily without recognizing the influence they have on many parts of our life, such as relationships, physical health, economics, and so on, resulting in frustration, sacrifice, worry, and even melancholy.

We feel accomplished when our expectations are satisfied and things proceed as planned; we feel secure, in control, and on track. However, when life fails to meet our expectations, we are dissatisfied. This kind of disappointment is unpleasant and may waste significant time and energy if not handled and used properly.

We've been taught to have high standards. High expectations are encouraged by information in books, podcasts, and internet sources. We are told from infancy that having high expectations will help us achieve and live happy lives. We also have high standards for others.
Usually, It is only when life throws us a curveball that we shift our focus and create space for the types of unexpected occurrences that lead more directly to a life we enjoy.
