I had a lot of things going against me throughout my life...abusive father, homeless for a while, living on welfare, and being sexually abused by a man who I looked up to. Those events are things that happened to me. They don't define me! They are not who I am, but are what happened to me. Things I had no control over.

You are going to have events in your own life that you have no control over. Those events don't determine what your future holds. Your now doesn't determine your future. You determine your future.

Middle school is a difficult time for everybody, except for a few, and they are lying to you. It was no different for me. I was bullied, called names, picked on, made fun of, and then for a short time that I regret - I became the bully.
