On March 23, 1989, the American chemist Prof. Dr. Martin Fleischmann at a press conference at the University of Utah together with his colleague Prof. Dr. Stanley Pons demonstrated nuclear fusion at room temperature in a simple tabletop experiment. This news about the so-called "cold fusion" went around the world at internet speed and caused all plasma physicists to panic.

The excitement died down quickly, however, as no research group in the world was able to successfully replicate this experiment. None, except for the two Heidelberg physicists Dr. Friedrich Schuetz and Dr. Michael Wimmer.

By chance, the Russian economy, one of the world's largest exporters of natural gas and oil, learned from a visiting student at Heidelberg University named Andrei Jurkov that these two physicists had retreated to a secret underground laboratory at their institute. There they are to deal intensively with cold fusion. It is imperative that the oligarchs get the results with Jurkov's help.

However, they did not count on the two faithful friends of the murdered physicist Dr. Schuetz and Dr. Wimmer, Alexander von Luckner and Daniel Bauer.
