The EMP attack was a conspiracy of worldwide magnitude meant to reshape the global power structure.

It failed to achieve its goal but left in its wake an America no longer able to wield the influence or the protection it previously had. To cover the failure and prevent the truth from coming out, those still in power found it convenient to blame radical fundamentalism. It had been increasingly vilified prior to the attack, so, as a result, most people were more than willing to accept the myth.

In America, where the initial blame of radical fundamentalism quickly morphed into blaming the entire Christian faith, long seen as anti-progressive, hateful, and bigoted. The government, in order to unify the fractured nation, exploited the common distrust of believers in Christ. The goal of American reunification provided ample excuses for increased monitoring of people's lives. Protecting citizens from the resurgence of the Christian "cult" became the rallying cry for submitting to the ever-increasing intrusions.

With America actively suppressing the church, other nations with a history of Christian persecution felt liberated to take their oppression to unprecedented levels. The Christian faith was banned in many parts of the world, to the extent of Christians were being hunted, jailed, or killed. In those countries where it was outlawed, to practice your faith openly meant losing your job, family, and home, and breaking multiple hate laws for which imprisonment was the punishment. Yet two preachers are moving across the land proclaiming the truth of Jesus Christ and revival threatens those in power. Two armies gather in a skirmish that is the prelude to the coming larger battle.

Throughout the history of the faith, persecution brings a deepening in true believers as they become increasingly dependent on God's mercy and grace. That increased reliance on God brings increased awareness of His provision for the faithful. As men gather for war on earth, God's army is already declaring victory.
