Mother of an Angel: A Story of Loss and Faith
Mother of an Angel: A Story of Loss and Faith
It was a fairly gruesome sight. A large red dump truck full of dirt had collided with a brown Suburban. I thought, There is no way that can be our vehicle. Ours is black. Black streaks marred the road where the dump truck had tried to stop. The Suburban was pushed right off the side of the highway and into a muddy ditch. The front was not visible from the road where I was standing, but the back was tilted up like it was face down.
It's not my girls, but I am here, so I should double-check.
I walked over to the sheriff directing traffic. "Sorry to bother you, but do you know if it was two girls in the Suburban? I have two girls that I just sent off to school. I just want you to tell me it's not them and then I'll leave you to your job."
I have a tendency to keep the world at bay, as I shield and protect my four kids. When my world falls apart with the death of one of my children, can I pick up the pieces?
A reflective and engrossing story about love, loss, community, and faith written from an LDS perspective.
