My Life in the Crucible of Christ: His Heart That Ever Intercedes for Me

My Life in the Crucible of Christ is essentially about the tender interceding heart of Jesus- the channel for my spiritual redemption and transformation. Guiding the reader through personal patterns of shame, issues of childhood sexual abuse reveal how identity formation is influenced and shaped. Experiences with church, teenage marriage to a non-Christian, divorce and emotional decomposition after the terror of my roommate's murder discloses my spiritual fragility. The "Great Sadness" renders me naked, exposing my deepest regret. Details of interracial marriage, successive divorce and navigating single parenting of Biracial sons in the Deep South takes my journey deeper into the Crucible of Christ. Through God's grace and extended church community, I endeavor to balance family, career and higher education. Remarriage and partnership to a man after God's own heart empowers me to face the countless tragedies of addiction, incarceration and mental illness in the lives of our sons. Caring for an aged parent gifts me with life lessons of wisdom from my godly mother and the courage to face all situations with trust in the goodness of the heart of Christ. Held in His loving arms, His tender mercies sustain me and infuse hope, redemption and the willingness to thank Jesus in all circumstances. Call to ministry in the Caribbean ushers me into the blessings of renewed life in a tropical paradise. Encouraged and equipped, my husband and I live through a tremendous natural disaster, cancer, worldwide pandemic, racial and political injustice and are currently growing old with purpose, joy and intentionality- redeemed, restored and transformed in the Crucible of Christ.
