When Alexander resurfaced in my life after seven years of separation, I thought I'd finally have my best friend back. I felt the tickle of his curls, followed by the soft touch of his lips on my shoulder, my neck. I sighed as a shiver ran down my body, and leaned against him.

"Don't do this," I whispered.

"I'm only playing a role, Sapphire."

"You're playing it too well."

I felt his stubble graze my cheek as his lips continued tracing featherlight kisses. He spoke, and there was an almost desperate ferocity in his voice, "Tell me you don't love me," he whispered, "Tell me, and I'll never touch you again."
