Swimming in Absurdity: A Collection of Thought-Provoking Stories

In this collection of stories, Evan presents some of the more absurd and ridiculous situations whereby humans have inflicted much pain and suffering on their fellow humans. Much of this pain has come from such illogical traditions and modes of behavior as racism, religious preference, sexism and homophobia. He believes that much of this has come from the illogical and thoughtless conditioning that so many of us received in our youth. As difficult as this conditioning is to change, Evan doesn't believe it's impossible. He feels that education is the key, especially when as students we are encouraged to ask questions and more importantly, question the answers.

Evan was born into a business family in British Guiana when the colony was beginning its struggle for independence. At a very early age, he became aware of the social and political ramifications of that struggle, along with the violence that accompanied it. Besides a strong desire for social and academic understanding, Evan was also a champion tennis player. He attended Oral Roberts University on a tennis scholarship, where he acquired B.A. degrees in Eng.Lit and Sociology. He also gained an M.A. in Rhetoric and Writing from the University of Tulsa.

Evan and his wife, Mary Anne lived in St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands for twenty years, where they owned shops at Beach Resorts. Evan also gave tennis lessons and competed in tournaments. He has won over a hundred tournaments, and given over forty thousand tennis lessons. Academically, he has taught high school English and been an Adjunct professor at community college. This is his third book. The first two were "A Voice from the Trees" and "Survival."
