Tanka is a form of classical Japanese poetry that has been around for more than 13 centuries. Tanka means "short song" and consists of 31 syllables arranged in five lines: 5/7/5/7/7. Tanka poems are often written as expressions of gratitude, love, or self-reflection, and sometimes exchanged between lovers or friends. Tanka poems use vivid imagery and a pivot line to create a contrast or a connection between two parts of the poem.
I hope you enjoy my Tanka collection.
