He repented of his sins, and was made right with God, but he was not permitted to enter the Promised Land with the Children of Israel. There's no doubt that both Moses and Joshua had many times of discouragement while leading the always-grumbling Israelites, but they managed to overcome those problems, and continued walking with God to the very end.
