Mr. Darcy returns to his home to find unexpected tourists. His surprise fades when he discovers the visitors, the Gardiners and their nieces, have mutual acquaintances, prompting him to invite them to join his house party.

Over the week, Darcy is struck by Elizabeth Bennet's charm and wit, seeing in her qualities he might consider in a wife. Similarly, Elizabeth finds herself captivated by Darcy's kindness and generosity.
