$17.51
In 1981, Jake Wiseman, professor of history at the University of Georgia in Athens, is on a year's leave of absence writing a biography of Confederate General James Longstreet. In his research, Jake discovers new evidence there was gold and other valuables stolen at the end of the Civil War. Jake finds clues that gold may be buried at two pre-Civil War homes: Blackberry Hill in Northeast Georgia and Hart Plantation, an antebellum mansion in deep Southwest Georgia.
Laura Baker, an old friend with whom Jake becomes romantically involved, assists Jake in his search for treasure at both of these historic homes. Jake finds a box of lost Confederate gold, British Sovereigns, at the Hart Plantation. At the same time, a small group of local thugs has been shadowing the professor and have schemes of their own. The hunt for more lost gold at Blackberry Hill builds to an exciting climax.
