In 2001, a young University student called Emma Billington graduated from the University of Glasgow and returned to live with her parents in Manchester where she began hearing the pitiful cries of an animal in the night. Upon investigation she found a beautiful skeletal Staffie dog called Lucky, chained to a concrete wall surrounded by her own faeces. The events that followed would see Emma give up her well-paid job in the City and set up Dogs 4 Rescue, the UK's pioneering kennel-free dog rescue, powered by love.
This book has been written by a supporter of Emma's work and tells the story of Dogs 4 Rescue from its early days up to and including January 2023. It is the story of blood, sweat, and tears on the one hand, and fun, humour and overwhelming love on the other.
