Jet Reports with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a popular enterprise resource planning (ERP) application used by many sites around the world to keep the accounting, financial, distribution, manufacturing and other business functions running day in and day out. While still available as an on-premises application, it is most commonly implemented under a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model in the Microsoft Azure cloud.

While Business Central includes a number of different reporting tools "out of the box" which cover a number of different reporting needs, they are usually not intended for end-users to quickly and easily modify or they are very limited in scope. To meet different reporting needs, users must therefore learn several reporting tools and run reports from different areas of the system.

There are multiple third-party reporting tools available which allow reports to be generated from Business Central, including Power BI and Jet Reports amongst others. It is the second of these, Jet Reports, which is covered in this book.

Jet Reports allows reports to be created from any part of Business Central, allowing users to create both financial and operation reports. In addition, it allows for reports to be created for any extension added to the system.
