When love becomes a game and its pieces fall out of place, letting that love go becomes a lonely and tiresome road. Sometimes holding onto a lost love is all that holds us together. And even as the binds loosen and fray, something keeps us letting go. Falling Out of Love explores the process of letting love go through poetry in eight sections - The First Kiss, Captivated, Moments, If This is Love, As the Tide Rolls In, Echoes, Haunted Love, and Parallel Lines - chronicling a process that is windy, long, and lonely, yet in the end, eye opening, rewarding, and freeing. Falling Out of Love consists of eight sections containing ten poems each, totaling about 100 pages. "The First Kiss" focuses on the very beginnings of love, that takes the form of a crush, creating light moments and feelings. "Captivated" chronicles where a crush is forming into something deeper -captivation is when you want to know everything about someone. It is the bridge between a crush and a true romance. "Moments" is full of memories, many small and individual. They are the moments in which you fell in love and gave your heart away and they are now the moments you remember and wonder if it was worth it. "If This is Love" begins questioning whether this relationship was true love or not. We try to define what love is to us so we can find it again in another. "As the Tide Rolls In" is the storm, where the romance is over yet the feelings are as heavy and overpowering as ever. Your grasp on it has not loosened and has maybe even tightened but instead of bringing your joy, it brings destruction. "Echoes" is the calm after the storm, where you feel in control again. Even though you still feel love and are often reminded of it in the echoes of life, there is a calmness. "Haunted Love" chronicles the bitter taste of a lost love and its ever present shadows that remain regardless of how hard you try to move on. "Parallel Lines" begins the road of acceptance and truly moving on. The deepness of that love remains, however it is fully in the past and no longer controls you-the long and complicated process is finally complete.
