Onyemaechi had hoped to spend his second term holidays in Lagos following a promise made to him by his maternal uncle Ikenyi during his vacation in the Village last Christmas. . He had not been to Lagos before abd was so ebthralled by the invitation that he made it a point of discussion with his fellow classmates and friends most of the time. He had always wanted to visit the Barbeach and Biney zoo to witness all the exciting tales from his friends about those resorts. It was also an opportunity to have a first hand knowledge of the capital of his country so that the Lagosians among his mates would stop regarding him as a bush boy.
Unfortunately, his father got promoted much to his joy, but to his disappointment as well, since this led to the decision for him and his siblings to rather spend their holidays in Yola instead. With no option of choice he promised himself that his final holiday before leaving school would definitely be in Lagos and duly informed all those he had pestered about his Lagos trip of the change.
