What Was The Old Man Thinking?

I could hardly wait to find out what Othaniel was thinking, from day to day.
I knew he'd been there and back, and survived to tell the tale as the saying
goes, and he had almost a hundred years of stories and bits of wisdom to prove it.

I shore ain't seed ever'than', but I gar-un-tee I seed a good piece of it,
I can hear him saying in his old time mountain way. He said his faith gave him
comfort, work made him strong, and Nature made him healthy.

It was obvious that sitting in the sun telling stories down at the old train depot
also made him happy.
