The Search For Sanctuary

When an alien Kalossian spaceship lands on Earth, their technology hurtles the countries of Earth into the space age. The spaceships from the United States and several other friendly alien species begin traveling far into the universe on a quest to find planets suitable for colonization. Those planets will provide sanctuary and hopefully ensure their survival. U.S. President Ava Gunnar sends Christie Wilson and her spaceship, the Seldan, deep into the universe on a dangerous mission: find habitable planets and look for any traces of the robotic Malicons, who scour the universes for other machine intelligences and any organic civilizations that might develop machine intelligences and destroy them. Christie finds and visits planet after planet. Some are savage and wild or hostile to life. But insidious threats are also right on board the Seldan. Gunnar's political opponents want to destroy the Seldan and prevent news of a colonizable planet from reaching the Earth thus ensuring that Gunnar doesn't win the upcoming election. President Gunnar periodically calls Christie back to the Earth to find and stop criminals from stealing millions and corrupting federal government agencies. Opponents both foreign and domestic are gunning for President Gunnar and not always in a figurative sense. The Seldan begins to follow electromagnetic signals to planets where Christie discovers that ancient humans traveled through the universe miliennia ago on advanced spaceships. Do they still exist or have they become extinct?
