Alone on the Road: The Mystery Begins

It is June 24, 2052. It is a normal day for Cora Mason. She is young, single, happy, and on her way to work at a medical clinic in southeastern Nebraska. Cora likes the job as her office's senior clerk. She has worked there for the last eight years. The world is relatively peaceful at the moment, so everything feels all right. As she drives through the small town that she calls home in her solar powered car, she hums quietly. Her life is orderly and she is content.
Little does she know, in less than two hours nothing would be the same again.A simple trip to the storage area in her building would be the beginning of the end of everything of which she had been so sure.
She would have never dreamed that by the end of that day, she would be standing in the middle of what should have been a busy highway, facing nothing but a barren landscape for as far as she could see. She would be simply "alone on the road."
Her dream life will have been turned into a nightmare. Nothing had prepared her for the biggest mystery mankind would ever face. The mystery would begin there, taking her into a future neither she, nor anyone else, could have ever imagined.
