Passing Through: The Road Trip Chronicles

From 1967 through 1971, during the summer breaks between my college school years, I embarked on a series of road trips around the U.S and Canada. The object of these trips was more along the lines of just to be going rather than getting somewhere. The old adage that the journey is always more interesting than the destination applied. They were my first occasions as a young man to travel on my own, without supervision. Traveling by Greyhound, funky old Metro step-van, VW micro-bus and finally by thumb all over the country and back again I gathered experiences and memories that have never left me. This, then, is a chronicle of those four trips. Every word is true to the best I can remember. Come join me.
