Many are, of course, the researchers who have dealt with the importance of play in a child's life. Many are also those who have pointed out and researched the suitability of the game as a pedagogical method. A method that contributes to the multifaceted "building" of a healthy personality, globally integrated.
This book is part of my research conducted in the context of my Doctoral Dissertation(2019) entitled "System of playful activities for improving intercultural competencies during the transition from Kindergarten to Grade A Primary School" at Sofia State University, "St. Kliment Ohridski". In this book I try to outline the game theoretically, present some important views of important researchers and propose a system of playful activities to establish or even enhance intercultural competencies.
The data of my research, which I hope will be published soon, in Greek schools, showed that play can be a valuable pedagogical tool in the quiver of the teacher who is interested in teaching in classes with students with different cultural backgrounds. Undoubtedly, the complexity of the society in which we live emerges clearly in the school environment that welcomes students from different cultures. The teacher should be interculturally ready, able and sufficient to convey to his students the values of intercultural education, as respect, solidarity, empathy and non-nationalist thinking.
I believe that the game and in particular certain activities that I propose can, as the research data have shown, make a positive contribution in this direction. The proposed activities are addressed to students of both Primary and Secondary Education and mobilize the student's interest both on a cognitive and emotional level.
