Heresies and Pharisees

Heresies and Pharisees
What if there is more to Church? What if there is more to Christianity? What if there is more to everything I have believed and even taught over the years?
If you're anything like me, maybe these thoughts have passed through your mind in the past. If they have, perhaps they were quickly dismissed. Or perhaps the reason you are reading this book is that you're in the middle of your struggle and asking these same questions yourself.
I am personally no one of notoriety in the world. I am not a wealthy man, nor particularly influential. I am a husband, a father, a Pastor, and I have been a published author since 2013. The memories I have captured and the experiences I have encountered have shaped me into the man sitting behind the keyboard this morning.
At times I feel excited to sing the songs and read the words. Other times though, I feel as if I am part of something that has lost its way. Something commercialized, something unintended by the Founder himself. If I were candid with you, the reader, this morning, I would have to admit I have almost always felt this way.
Starting as a young man in Christian ministry schooling, I felt like an outsider. There was something consistently deep within me pulling me in another direction. I asked the difficult questions that my professors couldn't or wouldn't answer. I was hungry for truth and knew the truth giver. I had been set free and didn't want to become shackled again. The chains of religion didn't interest me, nor did the delusional game everyone seemed to play. I wanted a genuine move of God or to burn the house down.
If you're reading these words, open your heart and try not to be offended. If you read something questionable, search through the scriptures before you rip the pages of this book. Build your foundation not on the teachings of man but the very scriptures themselves; if you have previously built a faulty building based on wrong theology - light a match.
This book is called Heresies and Pharisees for a reason. I once taught heresies before I knew the truth, I once believed heresies, and at times in my life, I have been guilty of being a modern-day pharisee.
John Wesley once said, "Light yourself on fire with passion, and people will come from miles to watch you burn.".
