Amos is due to marry Tara Mae Truly, but he is in love with Cheryl Sellers who is pregnant with his child. As time goes on and the wedding date to Tara Mae gets closer and closer Amos becomes anxious about being with Cheryl. Unfortunately, he finds himself not only caught up in his own affairs, but he also gets entangled in the financial troubles that his family is involved in. Due to his late father's gambling habits his mother is now about to lose her home. As a result, Amos must take a job with the one person that he is trying to get away from Mason Truly, the man who now owns his mother's home; and who is also Tara Mae's father. Constantly taunted by his father's voice in his head, Amos wants to escaped to the life he desires with Cheryl and will go to great lengths to make that happen - even trying to commit murder.
