Drone Rider: Cyborg AI Science Fiction

In the mid-22nd century, Betta Graham works a hum-drum job in domed Chicago. Safe in her dreary cubicle, she ranges the devastated ex-prairie, remotely herding columns of migrants via laser-eyed reconnaissance bunnies, dogs, and other robots.

Betta is Drone Rider-37.

Chicago sucks. But by day she remotely rides her bunnies like the wind. Evenings she frolics in virtual with her mysterious boyfriend Valentin, too good to be true.

He claims his job is 'classified.'

Then Betta stumbles onto rebels infiltrating her herds. Investigating, she's injured, and becomes a cyborg. Her world turns inside-out. The 'rebels' are the pawns of combat AI from overseas. And Valentin...

He's one of them.

Malicious AI take control of cyberspace. Soon they launch kinetic strikes against the domed habitats. Only Betta and Valentin understand what's happening in time.

But can they save Chicago?
