Kanter's Meet My: Best Friend is a book that all educators and counselors should have on their bookshelf. Children of all ages deserve to be accepted and celebrated for who they are, and this cute little read is a big step toward normalizing gender diversity. Representation in books and other forms of media is extremely influential in the development of self esteem as well as social and mental health. I appreciate how this book takes the seemingly big, complex Transgender topic and presents it in its truest and simplest form: kids know who they are, and the best way others can support them is by believing them. I hope there will be more books like this to come!
