The sequel [ANANDAM] tells how Colin, a student Jamie befriended when they were both at college, coaxes Reg and Jamie to join him at Anandam, a revolutionary new community in South India. They are wildly happy there and, in the third volume [THE WAY AHEAD], they are joined by Steph. The book ends with a rousing farewell speech to the assembled community by Kris, the charismatic retiring head of the community, who now hands over to his son Arul.
