Penny has been keeping a secret from everyone since she turned 17. She has story powers, just like her grandmother. There are other Storytellers, but she's never met them until she runs into Conrad in college.

Conrad, future marine biologist, is a Storyteller. Being a Storyteller doesn't stop him from having responsibilities like chipping in and picking up his younger brother, Kade, from ball practice. When he tries to get out of it, his father, Cassius Boik, lays into him on campus.

Penny can't help from being curious, and tells a story she would know the real deal. That's when she meets the first Storyteller outside of her family. The only problem is that Penny doesn't know that every Storyteller has a soulmate, and she's staring at hers.

There is a quest, dragons, sharks, and Conrad is best friends with Goldie Locke's son, Jackie.
