Are we more than our hurts? The heartbreak, the trauma, the abuse... are we more than the sum of our wounds? In mortal: love, self, & everything else, poetry is used to explore that very question, and many more after that. Can we ever truly "get over" losing the one we considered the love of our life? How do we move past abuse at the hands of a parental figure? How do we cope with the emotionally taxing journey that is known as self discovery?

In his debut collection of poetry, or as he sometimes calls them, "his melodramatic diary entries that often rhyme," Carter Zane seeks to further understand himself, his hurts, and his heartbreaks, all in an effort to grow deeper in his understanding of love, the world, and ultimately, the mortality of each human being.
