In 48 BC Julius Caesar's Civil War had been ravaging the lands of the Mediterranean for over a year. In need of funds to maintain his war effort the Roman General traveled down to Egypt to call on the debt owed to him by the ruling Ptolemy family. What he found upon arriving however would come to change the course of history. The Ptolemy siblings were in a bitter political feud with one another. The oldest daughter, Cleopatra, was sour in her shared rule with her thirteen-year-old brother. Just one year younger than Cleopatra was her half sister Arsino?, who was equally unsatisfied in being deemed powerless to rule her own kingdom. The sisters had been close rivals their entire lives, and now with Roman support, Cleopatra was in position to become unstoppable. Arsino? though had the local support of the Egyptian people, and was willing to do whatever it took to be the next ruler of Egypt, in her own right. What would follow the sister's struggle for control of Alexandria was a ten-month siege of the city, and many deaths. There was not room for both sisters in Egypt anymore, but who would prove clever enough to come out on top?
