Words of Change

Each collection of poetry by Carl Scott Harker is a journey of humor and insight, image and story. And this is certainly true for these poems written from late October of 2020 through May, 2021.

For the author, the last few months have seen a personal conflict between being tossed into the turmoil in the world and the need to be isolated from the world. To journey inward during this time was necessary to both escape and to make sense of all the madness. The poet's memories became as useful fodder for some of the poetry here.

You will also find poems that have a spiritual layer to them, but there are also baseball poems and other kinds of poems. But all of them, or almost all, have an element of change somewhere woven within their threads.

There was an artistic intent to place an undertone of the concept of change within these pages. Which adds another depth to each poem along with their individual topics.

Previous readers of the poet's work will find, once again, their own memories sparked as they read this book and new insights into their own life stories discovered.
