Rhyming Stories for Wholesome GloriesPoems that add extra in the ordinary
H! I am Sanjucta Roy, a resident of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, an engineer, and a daughter. This is my first work ever, after procrastinating since past couple of years (engineer indeed). I am an avid listener and observer. My hobbies include singing and drawing. The book cover has all my drawings I had made during 6 months of Covid-19 national lockdown in India. The book is a conglomeration of over thirty poems. Each one of these poems reflects diverse themes revolving around diverse themes. A few of them also celebrate famous days of the year; honoring professionals, spreading awareness about crisis, validating certain human emotions, etc. Poetry has been used as a medium to inspire people from every walk of the society. I visualize mundane days and inconspicuous events as an opportunity to achieve something extraordinary. Whenever I see a news, or an occasion being celebrated, or whenever I feel temperamental, I feel a dire urge to contribute something abstract, if not practical, and making those emotions heard. I immediately start capturing those emotions. Then, I use my imagination and creativity to portray the them into words. I want the readers to envisage the same feelings I had frozen in time through my words. Few of the poems have been written during the Covid-19 pandemic, hence you may find the themes to be pretty recent and relatable. The coverpage of the book features all my hand drawn art work I created during the pandemic period.Poetry is also my way of memorizing new or hard to spell English words. By the time I reached college, I could write poems in less than an hour. I started integrating poems in every speech I gave, essays I wrote, or music I vocalized. Apart from the literary devices used, the major attractions of the book that will make you gravitate towards it are the rhyming words. It provides a balanced experience of fun and learning. The content of this book is addressed towards audiences of all age groups, from a primary school student to an octogenarian. This book can be a perfect gift for your loved ones, or your daily dose of validation and encouragement. You can also learn a ton of new words, and be more self-aware of how we can contribute towards any crisis that barges in. Many poems have also been written such that they appear in the shape of the theme described. Every word here has been articulated with love and dedication. The poems are easy to understand and pretty self-explanatory. They go on in a story-like pattern. I hope that after reading this book, the readers would be able to connect to fellow human beings, and to the environment in a beautiful way. I write my poems with a big smile on my face, and I expect that my readers flash one too after completing each poem.
