Have your students experience Costa Rican culture while also exploring the themes of indigenous culture and dying languages. Malcolm is going on a trip to Costa Rica with his high school biology class to learn about the country and explore one of their Rain Forests. While in Costa Rica he goes on a fantastical, unique journey with the Boruca tribe in this Magic Realism style novella. This novella is written for students at an Intermediate Mid-High level. It contains many cognates and high frequency words for comprehensibility but also includes some upper level structures including past tense, conditional, command and subjunctive.
