Find Happiness

After reading Jon's first couple of chapters about his journey in finding happiness, I decided to help with his book. Let me explain. As I read I was introduced to a tormented child raised by an alcoholic mother. I remembered from my family development courses that such a child was destined to be a drunk, a misfit, and probably very mean, too. So, I couldn't believe this was the same Jon I had married, a very successful retired Army officer with an incredible IQ. Jon is so sensitive, very caring in so many ways, in control yet a very gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor who loves me dearly. Until reading about this little boy, I thought we had come from similar backgrounds. What had I missed? What lay ahead. Then I realized that Jon's childhood was a great place to visit. Filled with a wealth of information, we would learn the 'why' unexplainable behavior would show its ugly head once in a while. Both widowed, we learned within the days of our computer match-up that we both wanted to find love, again, to live in harmony and most, to be happy. To that end, we both felt writing about Jon together, using our thirteen years of marriage, would give us insight as to why Jon lived his life the way he had. It has turned out to be a marvelous journey that we have traveled together in finding Jon's happiness. We 'saw' how he had developed skills that worked for him to cope and handle stressors we all face in one way or another. We finally uncovered the one key that had been Jon's driving force for his incredible successes. I, in turn, have learned so much about Jon's struggles and successes to feel I now know the man I love so much. As the adult child of an alcoholic parent, Jon's story to FIND HAPPINESS shows others like him this is real, this is possible and worth the effort.
