My Mom's Beginnings were very different then mine she was raised in a home of strict Christian values and love. I have to call it love because my grandmother cared for my mom and prized my mom as her only beautiful and talented little girl. My mom would tell me that growing up with my grandma would teach her many things and support her in learning and becoming educated. Grandma seemed to adore my mom but not more than her strict belief and adherence to her religious faith. This I believe was my grandma's form of love. However, my mom became very rebellious in her early twenties. She began to veer from her Christian faith and started to affiliate more with he social justice movements going on at the time such as the Islamic based groups like Elijah Muhammad and Black Panther Movement. It was doing this season in her life that she met and married my dad. My mom explained became very angry with my grandmother during this time and the movement offered her the freedom that she felt as not available under her current faith, so she rebelled and moved in with my father.
