A startup college on the site of an old dairy farm creates a theatre by remodeling a cow barn. Students and faculty pitch in by shoveling manure, designing lights and building sets. Relationships and tensions grow.
Soon the romance of a blossoming theatre culture is disrupted by a brutal murder. While comedy, drama, and musical productions are fashioned, they are all in the midst of tragedy.
When the authorities prove to be ineffectual, it is left for the students to solve the mystery with the aid of stagecraft, prophetic dreams, and poetry quoting ravens. Young love and grief management are among the pleasant side-effects of finding the murderer.
