My own point of view of writing a slice of my life here in this book is to let the younger generation of readers know that in the journey of life nothing is impossible. I was able to conquer obstacles and challenges on my own life's journey from a farm boy in the Philippines to a Retired High School instructor in Wisconsin, USA. In my Catholic Religion class in High School, I learned a secret in my mind, dealing with spirituality. I carry with me always the shield of the Power of Prayer and also a gentle switch button for the virtues of Common Sense and Patience ready to be used when needed.
I admire the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a famous black person in U.S. history. His words, "I have a dream," is my personal favorite. His dream in life was to end racism in America and wanted equality of opportunity in the life of all American citizens. Like him, also, I had a dream. In High School, I had a dream wishing that someday I would be able to travel and see developed nations like United States and Europe and other progressive countries. I was able to realize my own dreams. But unfortunately for Dr. King, in a certain twist of fate, he did not. He was shot and killed but his legacy will remain forever. When I was a young boy growing up, I was a dreamer, and a wishful thinker. A vibrant youth full of energy, physically strong with a mind hungry for knowledge. I encourage any young person to have a dream. A dream is necessary as a guide to what you want to be in the future. It's a blueprint for success.
