Though this is a work of fiction, it is based on real events and real locations.The setting is at the exotic island of Lamu in the 1800's. The book revolves around three main characters. Twelve year old twins, Ali Yang and Xi Yang are of Mixed heritage. Their father is Chinese and their mother is Swahili(Arab/Giryama).The twins have different temperaments and preferences.A tragedy results in them meeting the third main character. Nazir Gulamhussein is an eleven year old Indian boy who is an orphan.The three boys immediately forge a close friendship despite them coming from different backgrounds and cultures.The boys come across riddles which require them to traverse the entire East African Coast to solve them.The book is filled with adventure and tells the story about how different cultures interact.The book is intended to be the beginning of a series of books. The sequel takes the characters to Zanzibar where they meet the Sultan, enroll at the police academy and afterwards receive their first assignment.
